Heavy snow is forecast for the eastern side of the UK over the next few days. Snow fall amounts of 5-10cm are likely locally with as much as 10-20cm possible, especially over higher ground. Drifting may well occur in fresh to strong easterly winds. This could cause disruption to travel and rail networks, especially across higher level routes. By Tuesday the snow will probably turn to rain.
